Thermal Pad Installation

1.
Apply a new thermal pad to the heat spreader by aligning the thermal pad’s cutout edges with the
heat spreader’s
shape (see Letter A).
2.
Fold the thermal pad to the opposite side of the heat spreader (see Letter B).
3.
Use a plastic tweezer (or the included DIMM removal tool) to apply pressure along the thermal pad
from one side to the other, ensuring that no air bubbles remain between the thermal pad and the
heat spreader.
4.
Install the previously removed DIMMs (see Section 1.1).

Power Supply Replacement
Power supply modules are hot swappable when the system is configured in a redundant (2+1) power supply
configuration. In this configuration, should a power supply fail, it can be removed and replaced without
powering down the full system.
