Riser Card Assembly Installation

1.
Power off the system and disconnect the power cable(s).
2.
Remove the system top cover (see
Section 3.1.1
).

Remove the air duct (see
Section 3.2.1
4.
Position the riser card
assembly’s
edge connector over the riser slot on the server board.
5.
Align the two key-slots on the back edge of the riser card assembly with the mounting keys on the back
of the chassis as shown with the orange lines in the figure.
6.
Once aligned, press the riser card assembly straight down into the riser slot (see Letter A).
7.
Using the fastener screws, secure the riser card assembly to the system (see Letter B). Tighten to 5 in-lb.
8.
Connect any cables to the add-in card that are required. See your add-in card documentation for
additional information.
9.
Reinstall the air duct (see
Section 3.2.2
10.
Reinstall the system top cover (see
Section 3.1.2
).
3.4
Drive Removal, Assembly, and Installation
The Intel® Server System M50CYP2UR family has front drive bay options that support 2.5” form
factor
SAS/SATA/PCIe NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) or
3.5” form factor
SAS/SATA hard disk drives (HDDs).
Additionally,
in 2.5” drive bay options
, 7 mm
thick SSDs with a form factor of 2.5” are supported when used
in conjunction with the supplied drive blank for 2.5” bays.
The
2.5” drive bay option
s also support 15 mm
drives.
Each storage drive in the front drive bay is mounted to a tool-less drive mounting
rail (2.5” drive) / drive
carrier (3.5” drive).
The front drives are hot swappable.
This section provides instructions for drive removal from the chassis, drive installation into the chassis, and
drive assembly.
Required Tools and Supplies
