Selecting the closed captioning mode
To select the closed captioning mode:
1 Press MENU . The on-screen menu opens
with VIDEO highlighted.
2 Press or to highlight OPTION , then
press . The OPTION menu opens.
3 Press or to highlight CLOSED
CAPTION , then press or to select the
closed captioning mode. You can select CC1 ,
CC2 , CC3 , CC4 , TT1 , TT2 , TT3 , TT4 , or
OFF .
4 Press MENU or EXIT to close the menu.
Viewing closed captioning
To view closed captioning:
• Press CCD repeatedly to select the closed
captioning setting. You can select:
• CC OFF
• CC ON
• CC ON WHEN MUTE —Closed captioning
turns on when the sound is muted.
Setting parental controls
Your TV has a V-chip that lets you control the
type of programs your children can watch.
Parental controls include two ratings: MPAA
(based on age) and TV Parental Guidelines
(based on content and age). A TV program may
have an MPAA or TV Parental Guidelines rating,
so you should set controls for both ratings.
Before you can select ratings, you need to set up
a parental controls password.
To set up a password:
1 Press MENU . The on-screen menu opens
with VIDEO highlighted.
2 Press or to highlight OPTION , then
press . The OPTION menu opens.
3 Press or to highlight PARENTAL
CONTROL . The PASSWORD screen opens.
4 Press the number buttons to enter a four-digit
password. Press or to move from digit to
digit. If you have not set up a password, enter
0000 .
5 Press or to highlight SET PASSWORD ,
then press the number buttons to enter a
four-digit password. Press or to move
from digit to digit.
To set the parental controls:

with VIDEO highlighted.

press . The OPTION menu opens.
3 Press or to highlight PARENTAL
CONTROL , then press the number buttons to
enter a four-digit password. Press or to

4 Press or to highlight TV RATING , MPAA
RATING , CANADA ENGLISH , or CANADA
FRENCH , then press ENTER . The lock menu
for the option you selected opens.
