Imprinter

User Manual H12 / SCAMAX® 8x1 - Version 2019.12

8.3.2.

Capacity of the Ink Cartridges

Based on the amount of printed information, the amount of ink consumed is calculated (in droplets)

per Imprinter and recorded and thus the remaining ink levels are saved. This can be determined at

any time, using the Scanner-Info (

see

chapter

4.1.3.

). If the amount of an ink cartridge falls below 10%,

a corresponding warning appears in the display (

see

chapter

9.1.13.

). As the amount of ink fluctuates

slightly due to production, it can happen that an ink cartridge despite specifying an ink quantity of

0% still prints or is already empty, although the amount is above 0%.
The achievable number of printable characters per ink cartridge varies , depending on the different

imprinter types. For the imprinters supplied in standard configurations, the original ink cartridges

contain

16.5 g

of ink. When using the standard font, this will last for approx.

2 million

 characters.

In the case of the HD imprinters, however, there are additional dependencies. With the

11 ml

 ink

quantity (

according to the manufacturer

), approximately

3 million

characters can be printed in a sing-

le-line height at a resolution of

300 dpi

. Increasing the resolution to

600 dpi

, however, reduces the

number of characters by half, i.e. to about 1.5 million characters, and using the highest resolution

halves the number again, to about

750,000

characters. Increasing the line height per character also

reduces this number, to about

half

 the number (

1.5 million

) for two-line height, to one

third

 (

1 million

for three-line height, and to one

quarter

 (

750,000

) for four-line height. In the interest of moderate

ink consumption, it is therefore advisable to exactly determine the necessary size and quality of HD

imprinter printouts, in each case.

Notice

If the ink cartridge is removed in order to replace it with a new one, this must be done with an

active device, so that the level can be reset. After inserting the ink cartridge a prompt appears

on the display with the opportunity to put the ink reservoir again at 100% via a button, thereby

indicated the use of a new ink cartridge or to keep the amount of ink on the current value, when

the ink cartridge, for example to control or clean, was removed and reinstalled. The current

value is also shown in the message, for informational purposes.
