5.5 V-BELTS

Ensure the compressor is isolated from the
compressor air system by closing the isolation
valve and venting pressure from the drip leg. Insure
the main power disconnect switch is locked open
and tagged.

Special Tools

Belt tension gauge (39199138).

Replacement Parts

V-Belts (See Parts Manual APDD-568).

Disassembly

Remove right door of enclosure (if so equipped).

Remove the right belt guard.

Loosen the pivot bolt located on the left side of the
airend.

Loosen locknut on tensioning bolt located on right side
of airend.

Screw the belt tensioning bolt away from the airend
cradle by turning counterclockwise.

Remove the belts from the airend sheave and the motor
sheave.

Installation/Inspection

Inspect sheave grooves for foreign material or rubber
build-up. Clean and degrease sheaves before installing
new belts to insure long belt life.

Install new belts in the reverse order of disassembly.

When installing a new belt, do not pry or force the
belt over the sheave grooves (See Section 5.6 to
tension the belt properly).

Hazardous voltage. Can cause

Disconnect power before servicing.
Lockout/Tagout machine.
