Operation:
Practice these procedures several times with a colleague playing the role of a fallen patient.
Ensure that any users are thoroughly familiar with the correct operation of the HFL
before
they use it to assist an actual patient.
Standard Procedure:
1.
Ensure the HFL’s Power Cord is disconnected and safely stored before moving the unit from
its stored location.
2.
Move the unit by placing one foot on the Foot Stop then slightly tilting the unit backwards by
slowing pulling the handle towards you. The HFL can be pulled or pushed to the location of
the fall. Note: Some manual doors dictate the need to pull the HFL through from behind.
As you stop at the desired location, ensure there are no foreign objects beneath the
seat
before
tilting the unit back to the upright (operational) position.
NOTE: Never move the HFL with a person in the seat!
3.
If necessary, adjust the width of the Rise-Assist Handles to fit the fallen patient’s form by
pulling on the spring loaded handle release knobs, moving the Rise-Assist Handles to one of
the three positions, then releasing the Handle Release Knobs.
NOTE: Ensure the Handle Release Knobs have snapped back into a fully locked position
before proceeding.
