Mount Assist Procedure
1.
Ensure the seat is in the fully lowered (home) position before moving the HFL.
When you arrive at the desired location, ensure there are no foreign objects
beneath the seat
before
tilting the unit back into the upright (operational) position.
Never move the unit with a person in the seat!
2.
Direct or assist the fallen person to a sitting position on the floor where the HFL can be placed
behind them.
3.
Position the HFL directly behind the fallen patient, with the Mounting Ramp Seat
positioned as close to the fallen patient’s buttocks as possible.
4.
If necessary, adjust the width of the Rise-Assist Handles to fit the fallen patient’s form by
pulling on the spring-loaded handle-release knobs, moving the handles to the desired position
and then releasing the handle release knobs.
NOTE: Ensure the handle release knobs have snapped back into fully locked position before
proceeding.
5.
Instruct the fallen patient sit upright on the floor with their knees pointing upward.
6.
Position yourself in a kneeling position, facing the fallen patient.
NOTE: A wall or other fixed surface may be used to facilitate the mounting step as well.
7.
Instruct the fallen patient to bend their knees.
8.
Place their feet on your thighs just above the knees.
9.
Instruct the fallen patient to push with their legs. The fallen patient will immediately scoot
backward onto the mounting ramp of the HFL in a fully seated position. NOTE: This may
take multiple “scoots”.
HFL Mount Assist Procedure
10.
Once the fallen patient is fully seated to the rear of the HFL’s seat, instruct them to place
their hands on the seat handles and tell them you are about to raise the seat. Once they
indicate that they are ready, press and hold the up button, as indicated by the arrow on the
Wired Remote. The seat will rise for approximately forty-five seconds and then stop.
11.
Once the Lift has stopped, the recovered patient can stand right up, rest and stand up at
their leisure, or transfer to a wheelchair or other destination for transport if necessary.
