Installing the Controller and Drives
Use only the latest Ultra320 hard disk drives in arrays and only high-
quality Ultra320-rated cables with multimode terminators for all
drives that share a channel with Ultra320 drives.
To install the controller and drives:

If you have a low-profile computer cabinet, replace the original
full-height bracket with the low-profile bracket.

Turn off your computer.

Unplug the power cord.

Open the system cabinet.

Remove the cover from an available 3.3V PCI or PCI-X slot that
is 2.2 or higher compliant.
Note:
You’ll get better performance if you use a 64-bit slot.

Install the controller in the PCI (or PCI-X) slot and secure the
controller bracket to the chassis.

Install and connect any internal drives using the appropriate
cable.
Note:
To build a RAID 5, as described in
, you must install at least three
drives.

Close the computer cabinet.
