3.8 Modbus Slave Connection to the I-8xx7
The I-8xx7 supports Modbus RTU Slave and Modbus TCP/IP Slave protocols that allow
connecting to ISaGRAF, SCADA, or HMI through the COM port or Ethernet port.
One I-8xx7 supports up to two Modbus RTU Slave ports.
I-8417/8817 supports COM1 (RS-232) and COM2 (RS-485);
I-8437-80/8837-80 supports COM1 (RS-232) and COM3 (RS-232/485). Note that the default
setting of the COM3 is “non-Modbus Slave Port”, also refer to Section 3.5 to change the setting.
I-8437-80/8837-80 provides a single Ethernet port that supports Modbus TCP/IP Slave protocol.
The user can set the IP address and TCP port number (fixed 502) for each PAC. One PAC can
connect up to
4 PCs through the Ethernet port.
The others PC or HMI can connect to the COM1 and COM3 (RS-232/485) on the PAC. Therefore,
one I-8437-80/8837-80 can connect to up to 6 devices.
