The ambient temperature in the environment in which the appliance is to be
installed must not exceed 104° F (40° C).

Tool and supplies

To install the WebSphere DataPower XC10 appliance, gather the following supplies:

v

A medium Phillips screwdriver

v

Two (2) standard rack screws (provided with appliance)

v

One to four (1-4) network cables

v

Serial cable (provided with appliance) for initial serial connection

Note:

Do not discard the serial cable after installing the appliance. You might
need it for problem determination or maintenance in the future.

v

Serial console with a male DB9 connector. This could be a dedicated hardware
device, such as a VT100-style console, or a PC running an emulator, such as
HyperTerminal or minicom.

v

(Optional) USB-to-serial adapter, if you are using a PC as a serial console and
the PC does not have a built-in serial port.
