replication policy can then be created on the modified destination directory in
order to replicate and restore the data to a new replication directory on the
modified or replacing source repository.
Note:
A source repository can no longer replicate to a replication destination
directory that has been modified to be read/write.
Taking ownership of a replication destination directory
This topic describes how to take ownership of a replication destination directory
for the purpose of restoring and recovering data.
About this task
Taking ownership of a replication destination directory means that the Replication
directory can be accessed via shares with read/write permissions. Once a replication
directory is modified to be read/write accessible, the source repository can no
longer replicate data to the modified replication directory. The modified replication
directory now becomes a "regular" directory and can be used as a source for
replication and have shares defined to it with writing permissions.
Note:
Taking ownership of a replication directory may require blocking incoming
replication activities from remote repositories, or deleting replication policy on the
source to which it is associated. For more information, see “Blocking replication
activity” on page 122.
Procedure
Follow the steps to take ownership of a replication directory:
1.
From the Systems Management view, select an existing file system under the
File System category in the navigation pane.
2.
Select Replication > Replication Directory > Take ownership of a replication
directory
. The Take ownership of a replication directory window is displayed.
3.
In the Replication directory name: field, enter the replication directory on
which to take ownership, or click Browse to navigate to the replication
destination folder.
4.
Click Take ownership. A warning is displayed that the selected directory will
no longer serve as a replication destination directory, and that the directory can
no longer be defined as a Replication directory.
5.
Click Yes to confirm the take ownership operation. The directory can now be
used as a source for replication and have shares defined to it with writing
permissions.
Cloning an FSI replication directory
This task describes how to clone a replication destination directory for disaster
recovery testing. Use cloning when you want to see what has been replicated on a
replication destination directory in case of disaster recovery.
About this task
Cloning in FSI lets you perform disaster recovery tests at a replication destination
repository, while allowing replication of the original data from the source
repository to the destination repository to continue. To perform a disaster recovery
(DR) test, a space-efficient clone of a read-only replication destination directory can
be created on the destination repository that is read/write accessible. All existing
