Connecting the Power Cords

For information regarding safety when servicing electrical equipment, refer to
Electrical Safety for IBM Service Engineers (S229-8124-09).
Important: Before attaching any electrical cables to the library, inspect the ac
grounding of the library. See “ac Grounding Inspection” on page 5-5.
To connect a power cord:
1. Plug one end of the power cord into the power connector on the rear panel of the
library.
2. Plug the other end of the power cord into the nearest properly grounded power
outlet.
3. Power ON the library by toggling the power switches on each power supply to
the ON (|) position.
4. Wait for the library to initialize. This will take approximately 10 minutes.
Note: If the Operator Panel does not initialize, check all cable connections, and
ensure that all cartridge magazines are tightly closed and all power
supply switches are in the ON position.
Verifying Library and Drive Operation
To verify the library is operating correctly:
1. When the library is initialized, press the Enter button to move to the Password
screen.
2. If the password has been changed, ask the customer to enter the Operator Panel
password. Otherwise, enter
0000 , the default password. The top menu screen
appears.
If necessary, adjust the contrast of the library display. Select
Configuration
→
Op
Panel Settings
→
LCD Contrast to change the display contrast.
