Chapter 6. Configuration information and instructions
This chapter provides information about updating the firmware and using the
configuration utility programs.
To update the firmware, you might have to use an external USB CD-RW/DVD drive
such as the IBM and Lenovo part number 73P4515 or 73P4516. To run the Setup
utility, you must have the following additional hardware:

Monitor
v
Combination USB keyboard and pointing device such as IBM part number

Firmware updates
Important:
Some cluster solutions require specific code levels or coordinated code
updates. If the device is part of a cluster solution, verify that the latest
level of code is supported for the cluster solution before you update the
code.
The firmware for the server is periodically updated and is available for download
from the Web. To check for the latest level of firmware, such as server firmware,
vital product data (VPD) code, device drivers, and service processor firmware,
complete the following steps.
Note:
Changes are made periodically to the IBM Web site. The actual procedure
might vary slightly from what is described in this document.
1. Go to http://www.ibm.com/systems/support/.
2. Under
Product support
, click
System x
.
3. Under
Popular links
, click
Software and device drivers
.
4. Click
System x iDataPlex dx360 M2 server
to display the matrix of
downloadable files.
Download the latest firmware for the server; then, install the firmware, using the
instructions that are included with the downloaded files.
When you replace a device in the server, you might have to either update the
server with the latest version of the firmware that is stored in memory on the device
or restore the pre-existing firmware from a diskette or CD image.
