IBM Flex System V7000 Storage Node Introduction and Implementation Guide
12.6 Linux host attachment
This section guides you in preparing and configuring a Linux host for FC attachment. The
Linux operating system versions supported on the x86 CPU nodes (x240 and x440) are
detailed next:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server with Xen x64 Edition
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 Server x64 Edition
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Server x64 Edition
SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 for AMD64/EM64T
SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11 for AMD64/EM64T
SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11 with Xen for AMD64/EM64T
Support by some of these operating system versions will be after the date of initial availability.
Check the ServerProven website for the latest information about the specific versions and
service levels supported and any other prerequisites:
http://www.ibm.com/systems/info/x86servers/serverproven/compat/us/nos/matrix.shtml
At the time of this writing, the supported versions of Linux on POWER7 technology-based
servers (p260, p460) are as follows:
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 11 Service Pack 2 for POWER, with current maintenance
updates available from Novell to enable all planned functionality
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.7 for POWER, or later
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.2 for POWER, or later

12.6.1 Linux Fibre Channel attachment
FC connectivity of both POWER7 and x86 compute nodes with Linux operating systems
requires one of two types of multipathing device driver software, Subsystem Device Driver
(SDD), and configuration files for Device Mapper Multipath (DM-Multipath). Detailed
information is available for these at the following link:
http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ssg1S4000107
The version of these device drivers to be used is dependent on the version of Linux on the
compute node host. We recommend where possible to use the latest versions of multipathing
device drivers.
