Pull out the SAS cable

(D)

from the center brace

(C)

and out of the system.

You can continue with the procedure to replace the SAS port. For instructions, see “Replacing the
external SAS port in the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D, 8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or 8205-E6D system” on
page 90.

If you are not replacing the SAS port, you can install a filler into the external SAS connection port on
the disk drive backplane.

Installing the external SAS port in the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D,
8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or 8205-E6D system

Use this procedure to install an external SAS port as a part of upgrading your disk drive backplane.

If you want to replace a failed SAS port, see “Replacing the external SAS port in the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C,
8202-E4D, 8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or 8205-E6D system” on page 90. Complete the tasks in this procedure to
install an SAS port in the system.

Complete the following steps to connect the SAS cable to the external SAS connection port on the system
backplane:

Complete the prerequisite tasks. For instructions, see “Before you begin” on page 137.

Identify the system that you will be working on by turning on the system identify (blue) LED. For
instructions, see Control panel LEDs and enabling enclosure indicators.

Stop the system or logical partition. For instructions, see “Stopping a system or logical partition” on
page 147.

Disconnect the power source from the system by unplugging the system. For instructions, see
“Disconnecting the power cords from the 8202-E4B, 8202-E4C, 8202-E4D, 8205-E6B, 8205-E6C, or
8205-E6D system” on page 163
