The autoloader provides the following features:

Automatic tape operations

Autoloader status display using the operator control panel (OCP), including:
– Tape drive status and activity
– Tape drive error status
– Magazine slot status
– Loaded tape-cartridge conditions

Mode control features:
– Automatic random access to all tape cartridges
– Sequential access to tape cartridges in a single cycle
– Sequential access to tape cartridges in circular cycles
– An optional autoclean mode that automatically cleans the drive when
necessary

Manual selection of cartridges to be loaded into the tape drive

SCSI ID selection using the OCP

Autoloader and tape drive microcode updates using the SCSI bus

Display of device microcode and hardware revision numbers
