Chapter 3.

RAS and manageability

This chapter provides information about IBM System p5 design features that help lower the
total cost of ownership (TCO). IBM reliability, availability, and service (RAS) technology allow
you to improve your TCO architecture by reducing unplanned down time.

This chapter provides more detailed information about the IBM IntelliStation POWER 285
system’s RAS features. It includes several features about the benefits available when using
IBM AIX 5L.
