Chapter 1. Introduction
The IBM TS2250 Tape Drive is a high-performance, high-capacity data-storage
device that is designed to backup and restore open systems applications. It is the
fifth generation in the Ultrium series of products, and is available with a Serial
Attached SCSI interface (SAS), or with an optional SAS/USB interface. This model
incorporates the Linear Tape-Open (LTO) IBM Ultrium 5 Half-High Tape Drive.
Drive features
The drive offers the following features:
v Dual port 6 Gbps Serial Attached Small Computer Systems Interface (SAS) or
optional single 6 Gbps SAS port and single USB 3.0 port (FC 5760)
v Half height form factor

Native storage capacity of 1500 GB per cartridge (3000 GB at 2:1 compression)
v Maximum native data transfer rate of up to 140 MB per second
v
Burst data transfer rate of 600 MB per second
v 256 MB read-and-write cache
v
Support for encryption on Ultrium 5 tape cartridges
v Single Character Display (SCD) operator panel
v
Ready, Fault, and Encryption status lights
v Maintenance Mode functions
v
Ethernet Port (drive service use only)
