R emovin g the blade - server be z el assembly
Before you can replace a defective system-board assembly or blade-server be z el
assembly, you must first remove the blade-server be z el assembly. The following
illustration shows how to remove the be z el assembly from a blade server.
Complete the following steps to remove the blade-server be z el assembly:
1 . Read the safety information beginning on page v and “ Installation guidelines ” on
page 2 1 .
2. O pen the blade server cover.
3 . Press the be z el-assembly release and pull the be z el assembly away from the
blade server approximately 1 .2 cm ( 0. 5 inch ) .
4. Disconnect the control panel cable from the control panel connector.
5 . Disconnect the serial cable from the serial connector.
6. Pull the be z el assembly away from the blade server.
7. Store the be z el assembly in a safe place.
Installin g the I DE hard dis k drive
The blade server has a connector on the system board for installing a 2. 5 -inch
integrated drive electronics ( ID E) hard disk drive. The BladeCenter QS20 model
comes with the ID E hard disk drive already installed.
N ote: Some hard disk drives have Phillips screws ; therefore, make sure that a
Phillips screwdriver is available.
A ttention: To maintain proper system cooling, do not operate the BladeCenter
unit for more than 1 minute without a blade server or filler blade installed in each
blade bay.
