Removing a 3570

Notes:

1. For World Trade countries, refer to WT General CEM 257, “General Internal Packaging Instructions for

Replant Machines.”

2. Before attempting to remove a 3570, ensure that you have the relocation kit.

3. If your host system has software aids for system upgrades, installations, or relocations, execute that

software and follow the instructions it provides.

To remove a 3570, perform the following steps:

1. Before proceeding, check the following:

a. Ensure that the 3570 is unloaded and the tape cartridge has been removed or stored in

the magazine.

b. Notify the system operator that you must switch off power to the 3570 and that it will not

be available.

2. Set the Power switch to the Off position.

3. Open the rear door of the rack.

4. Set the circuit protector (CP) to the Off position

for this device only.

5. Remove the power cable(s)

for this device only from the outlet in the rack.

6. Disconnect the ac power cable from the 3570.

7. Disconnect the interface cables from the 3570.

8. Remove the cleaner cartridge from the cleaner cartridge storage cell.

Remove or Relocate the Library Model in a Rack

The following notices are translated into selected languages. Each notice contains an identifier
(Caution=Cx).

CAUTION:

The 3570 Model B11 and B21 weighs approximately 24 kilograms (53 pounds); it takes two

persons to safely lift this unit.

CAUTION:

The 3570 Model B12 and B22 weighs approximately 29 kilograms (64 pounds); it takes two

persons to safely lift this unit.

Note: This notice is translated into selected languages. See C2 and C4 in the INSP section.

When removing nut clips, bolts, and screws, put them into the containers provided. Mark the containers
with the correct part number.

1. Remove the rack covers.

2. Remove the 3570 from the shelf.

3. If the 3570 is to be relocated to a different rack or a different location in the same rack, perform the

installation instructions.
