xSeries 440 Planning and Installation Guide

Table 3-3 Factory configurable eight-way Datacenter Server models

Option 2: Software-only preload kit.

This CD-ROM kit allows a customer to install Datacenter Server on an
existing x440 configuration that is already certified for use with Datacenter
Server.

The eight-way preload kit, 4816-1BX, contains:

– Windows 2000 Datacenter Server

– License entitlement for up to eight processors

– Device drivers and firmware updates, which have been tested to support

the Datacenter solution on certified xSeries 440 configurations

– System documentation and recovery CD-ROMs

Customers should also purchase the annual Software Update Subscription for
eight-way Datacenter Server, 4816-ABX.

Datacenter 16-way configuration

The 16-way configurations are comprised of two eight-way Datacenter Server
systems as described in Table 3-3 on page 94.

Note: All AX models are to be ordered via an IBM Special Bid process, and all
Datacenter solutions require an IBM Solutions Assurance Review, to ensure
compliance with the Datacenter certified solution.

Note: The x440 16-way fixed configuration for Datacenter Server will initially
only be supported in a stand-alone configuration, not in a cluster. Check for
updates to the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) at:
