ibaBM-DP

Issue 1.7
Note
By adding more modules of the "Active slave" type, you can generate more slaves on
ibaBM-DP.
By default the max. number of active slaves is eight. If you define more than these eight
slaves, an error message will appear. If you need more than eight active slaves, please
do not hesitate to contact the iba support. By means of an additional license, you can
increase the number of active slaves to 16.
Important note
Select for the device only slave numbers that are not yet existing in the PROFIBUS line.
Select exactly these addresses that you have defined in your control configuration (e. g.
SIMATIC
®
Step7 Hardware Configuration) for the active slaves.
Prior to enabling active slaves, ibaBM-DP checks if there are slaves with the same num-
ber on the bus. If there is a slave with the same number existing, the own slave will not
be enabled.
Connecting the PROFIBUS cable
Do not connect the PROFIBUS cable until the configuration of the "active slaves" has
been done correctly. This way, you make sure that no slave number exists twice. If there
is more than one slave with the same number, this can lead to a complete breakdown in
communication on the PROFIBUS and hence, a complete machine downtime!
10.3.3.2 "Analog" tab
Fig. 46: "Active slave“ module – "Analog" tab
Make the settings as for the “Sniffer“ module (see chapter 10.3.2.2). You cannot define
a slave number here as this is already done on the “General“ tab. This means that all
defined signals refer to the active slave of this module.
