13.3 Application notes
1.
Install or copy the appropriate GSD file(s) on the PROFIBUS master. The choice of
GSD file depends on the mode to be used.
For more information see chapter 13.1.
2.
By means of the master configuration program register the GSD file(s) in order to
assign the ibaBM-DP slaves.
3.
Connect the ibaBM-DP physically with the DP line.
Connecting the PROFIBUS cable
The PROFIBUS cable should be connected after proper completion of the active slave
configuration in the web interface or ibaPDA only to ensure that the slave numbers do
not exist twice. A conflict due to slaves with the same number can lead to a breakdown
of the PROFIBUS communication and finally to a complete downtime of the system.
4.
Activate application-specific transfer programs in the master (PLC).
5.
Connect the fiber optical links of the ibaBM-DP with another iba-sytem, e. g. ibaPDA,
ibaLogic etc.
13.4 Applications with SIMATIC S7
In the following sections you will find a description of 2 very simple applications for uni-
directional and bidirectional communication with ibaBM-DP in compatibility mode 3Mbit
which show the principles in configuration and engineering.
The following remarks concerning applications with SIMATIC S7 basically apply also to
SIMATIC TDC and SIMADYN D accordingly.
