CAUTION -
MATT PAINT
FINISH
If your vehicle paintwork is manufac-
tured with a matt finish, make certain
you both maintain it properly to pre-
serve the matt appearance and adhere
to the following recommendations:
IMPORTANT - The normal paint war-
ranty applies to defects in material
and/or workmanship, but not the matt
appearance or its consistency.
Automatic car wash which uses rotat-
ing brushes must not be used as this
can affect the matt appearance.
• Rub marks, burnish marks, and
shiny spots are likely to require
repainting at a body shop specialis-
ing in matt paint repair.
• Test all products on a less visible
area (such as the engine bay) to
make certain they do not affect the
matt appearance.
• Hand wash the vehicle only; only
use a soft cloth, dry with a clean
chamois, and only use light pres-
sure using a microfiber towel.
Always minimize the pressure you
use.

Do not rub the paint finish repeated-
ly, failure to adhere to this will bur-
nish the paint as will using a coarse
material cloth.
• Pre-rinse the paint prior to washing
to remove coarse dirt that can
scratch the paint. Pressure washing
is OK with a fan nozzle operated at
a distance of a minimum of 10 inch-
es between the nozzle and paint.
• Use a detergent specifically formu-
lated for matt paint.
• Use a shampoo made for matt paint.
• Spot treat heavy dirt accumulation
with a cleaner made for matt paint.
• Most solvent based tar and bug
remover products can be used, fol-
lowed by an alcohol/water or paint
cleaner. Test in a less visible area
before using.
• Most waxes and paint sealers will
add gloss, and are often very diffi-
cult or impossible to remove.
• Special waxes and sealers made for
matt paint do offer protection from
insects, bird droppings, and con-
taminations, but may affect the
appearance. If used the complete
vehicle has to be treated to maintain
a uniform finish. Test in a less visi-
ble area before using.
CAUTION
• Water washing in the engine com-
partment including high pressure
water washing may cause the fail-
ure of electrical circuits located in
the engine compartment.
• Never allow water or other liquids
to come in contact with electri-
cal/electronic components inside
the vehicle as this may damage
them.
