5. If the equipment is likely to encounter aggressive substances, then it is the

responsibility of the user to take suitable precautions that prevent it from
being adversely affected, thus ensuring that the type of protection is not
compromised.

Aggressive substances

– are acidic liquids or gases that may attack metals, or

solvents that may affect polymeric materials

Suitable precautions - e.g. regular checks as part of routine inspections or
establishing from the material’s data sheet that it is resistant to specific chemicals

There are no special checking or maintenance conditions other than a periodic
check of the equipment

Special conditions of safe use apply, see below.

Conditions of safe use

Data transfer via the Local COMM connector is permitted only in a non-
hazardous atmosphere. The supply for the equipment connected to this port must
be approved as SELV or Class 2 equipment against UL 60950-1, UL 6101-1 or
an equivalent IEC standard. The maximum voltage from a data transfer device
shall not exceed 19.7Vdc.

The Hydro-Logic

®

Flexi Logger 300Ex is normally used in damp environments

and is unlikely to be placed in a position where an electrostatic build up can take
place. Under certain extreme circumstances, the non-metallic parts incorporated
in the enclosure of this equipment may generate an ignition-capable level of
electrostatic charge. Therefore, the equipment shall not be installed in a location
where the external conditions are conducive to the build-up of electrostatic
charge on such surfaces. In addition, the equipment shall only be cleaned with a
damp cloth.

The SIM card shall only be changed when an explosive atmosphere is shown to
be absent; the cover should be replaced before use
