Function
Usage Scenario
Remarks
Loopback (LB)
Loopback provides
OAM functions on
demand by
monitoring the
connectivity of
bidirectional links
between a MEP and
a MIP or between
MEPs.
monitors the continuous connectivity of
the L2+L3 network between UPE1 and
PE1. The monitoring results will be
displayed on an NMS.
Linktrace (LT)
LT also provides
OAM functions on
demand. An LT test
obtains information
about each node on a
path between a MEP
and a MIP or
between MEPs. The
information
obtained can be used
to locate node or link
faults.
monitors the path along which packets
are forwarded on the L2+L3 network
between UPE1 and PE1 or help locate link
faults (if any). In the reply mode,
monitoring results will be displayed on the
device while no-replay mode on an NMS.
Pre-configuration Tasks
Before configuring MPLS-TP OAM on an L2+L3 network, configure the L2+L3 network.
