Protection

3.1

Equipment Protection

The OptiX OSN 3500 supports the following protection schemes at equipment level:

1:N TPS for processing board

1+1 hot backup protection for cross-connect unit and timing unit

1+1 hot backup protection for SCC unit

1+1 hot backup protection for power input unit

1:N protection for the 3.3V board power supply

Intelligent fans, with rotational speed automatically adjusted

Abnormality-specific service protection

3.1.1 Protection for Processing Board

The OptiX OSN 3500 provides 1:N TPS for the boards: PQ1, PQM, PL3, PD3, SPQ4
and SEP1.

The E1/T1 service supports one group of 1:N (N

≤

8) TPS.

E3/DS3/E4/STM-1 electrical service supports two group of 1:N (N

≤

3) TPS.

The OptiX OSN 3500 supports three TPS groups of different types at the same

time.

3.1.2 1+1 Protection for Cross-connect Unit and

The cross-connect unit and timing unit are provided by the GXCS/EXCS boards.
