6.2.10 Creating a Snapshot Volume for a Volume Consistent Group

This section introduces the procedure for creating a snapshot volume for a volume consistent
group.

Prerequisite

NOTE

l

Before a full-sized instant snapshot volume is created, a disk group must have a source consistent group
and a snapshot consistent group. Moreover the size of the source consistent group must be the same as
that of the snapshot consistent group, and the snapshot consistent group must not be mapped.

l

Before a space-optimized snapshot volume is created, the free capacity of the disk group must be
adequate for cache after the source consistent group is created. You are recommended to set the cache
size to 20% of the capacity of the source volume.

CAUTION

After creating a space-optimized instant snapshot, pay attention to the variation of the free
capacity of the disk group in which the optimized-space instant snapshot is. Add disks to the
disk group according to the free capacity of the disk group and the variation of the snapshot data.

Procedure

Step 1

In the navigation tree, click the

Logical

tab.

Step 2

In the navigation tree, select the

Volume

node.

Step 3

Select the consistent group that requires for a snapshot volume.

Step 4

On the menu bar, choose

Configuration

>

Create Consistent Group Snapshot...

.

interface is displayed.
