9.10 Do I need to stop the services on the primary storage
system before performing the initial synchronization
Question
If the primary storage system is processing services and has data stored on it, and I want to
connect a secondary storage system to it and create a remote replication relationship in
between, do I need to stop the services on the primary storage system before performing the
initial synchronization?
Answer
No, you do not need to stop the services, because initial synchronization can be performed
when the primary storage system is processing services.
9.11 Impact of the Secondary Storage System Failure on
Remote Replication
Question
What is the impact of the secondary storage system failure on remote replication?
Answer
If the secondary storage system is powered off or faulty, services running on the primary
storage system are not affected but the remote replication relationship is interrupted. The
primary storage system records changes after the remote replication relationship is interrupted
in the Data Change Log (DCL) bitmap. After the secondary storage system is recovered, the
remote replication relationship can be restored by synchronization.
9.12 Do File Remote Replication and Block Remote
Replication Use the Same License
Question
Do file remote replication and block remote replication use the same license?
Answer
File remote replication and block remote replication use the same license. After purchasing
and importing a remote replication license file, you can create both file and block remote
replications.
