Quidway® NetEngine 40E Core Router
Switch Fabric Unit
The Switch Fabric Unit (SFU) on the Quidway® NetEngine 40E Core Router (“NE40E” hereinafter)
completes service data switching of the entire system.
The NE40E has altogether 12 slots, two of which are for SFUs. It is recommended that two SFUs
be configured to implement 3+1 redundant backup of the switching network together with the SFU
modules on two Switch and Route Processing Units (SRUs), to provide 640G switching capacity on
the whole NE40E and to support wire-speed switching of 160G user traffic.
The SFU has separate channels to monitor its voltage and temperature and provide
over-voltage/overheat alarm and over-current protection. In addition, the on/off state and sequence
of its working power supply can be controlled.
The SFU currently supported by the NE40E is CR52-SFUD. It has no external interfaces but only
three external indicators indicating the board operating status.
