Figure 37: Installing the drive
6.
Insert the hard drive (1) and close the carrier handle (2).
7.
Continue until all 11 disks have been installed. Close the hard drive drawer. It will click into place when
it is securely closed. The fans will return to normal speed when both drawers are properly closed.
WARNING:
Pinch hazard—Keep hands out of front and rear of chassis when closing hard drive
drawers.
CAUTION:
To prevent improper cooling and thermal damage:
• Do not operate the storage enclosure for an extended period with the drawer open.
• Do not operate the storage enclosure unless all bays are populated with either a component
or a blank.
8.
Check the front panel hard drive LEDs and confirm that none of them are amber.
If one or more disks within the disk pack reports a fault during the initial installation, the entire set of 11
disks must be removed and replaced with a new disk pack. Once the disks have been successfully
installed and added to the system, a single failed disk can be replaced.
