Setting up power for the server
About this task
Use a UPS or a grounded outlet to provide power for the server.
A CMS server requires 1.5KVA of power for each power supply on the server.
See your UPS documentation to determine the estimated amount of time the battery will back up
your server.
Caution:
If the electrical supply is not restored before the backup electrical supply is exhausted, the
computer might shut down improperly resulting in the loss of customer data.
If you do not use a UPS, you must use a grounded outlet on a minimum 15-amp circuit.
Procedure
1. Plug in the IEC end of the power cord to the power outlet on the server.
For installations outside the United States and Canada, use a power cord approved for local
power configurations.
2. Plug the power cord from the server into an outlet on a UPS or a grounded power outlet.
Important:
Do not turn on power at this time. Wait until instructed later in this document.
