6. Access the USB filesystem. (For example, if the USB filesystem is listed as FS0, type

7. Change to the directory where the BIOS file is stored on the thumb drive.
8. Run the
flash.nsh
script:
flash.nsh <
bios_filename

9. When flashing is complete, AC power cycle the server.
6.2.2 Using the SUMTool to flash the BIOS
Use the
sum
command to use the SUMTool to flash the BIOS.
Note:
To preserve the EFI bootloader information, use the
--flash_smbios
option.
In-band:
1. Upload the new BIOS file to the server.
2. Run the
sum
command to flash the firmware:
#
sum -c UpdateBios --file <
bios_filename
> [--flash_smbios]
3. When flashing is complete, AC power cycle the server.
Out-of-band:
1. Upload the new BIOS file to a remote server.
2. Run the
sum
command to flash the firmware:
#
sum -i <
hostname
> -u <
username
> -p <
password
> -c UpdateBios --file
<
bios_filename
> [--flash_smbios]
3. When flashing is complete, AC power cycle the server.
6.2.3 Using the Web GUI to flash the BIOS
1. Log in to the Web GUI.
2. Go to the
Maintenance
tab and click
BIOS Update
.
3. Click
Browse
and select the file to upload/update.
4. Click
Upload BIOS
.
5. Ensure that the
Preserve ME region
,
Preserve NVRAM
, and
Preserve SMBIOS
check
boxes are not checked.
6. Click
Start Upgrade
.
7. When flashing is complete, AC power cycle the server.
