Replacing the Processor Board Assembly
To replace the processor board assembly, follow these steps:
1.
Remove the processor board assembly.
2.
Align the edges of the processor board assembly with the assembly guides in the chassis.
3.
Slide the processor board assembly into the chassis until it begins to seat into the socket located
on the midplane board.
4.
Push the processor board access door upward until it locks into position.
5.
Replace the memory carrier assembly. See
“Removing and Replacing the Memory Carrier
.
6.
Replace the memory carrier assembly cover and latch the top cover release lever closed. See
“Removing and Replacing the Memory Carrier Assembly Cover” (page 12)
Installing a Dual-Core Processor
The server uses dual-core processors. Each processor contains two cores that function as separate
processors. Dual-core processors double the processing power of the server while maintaining the
physical dimensions of a single processor.
The server can contain one, two, three, or four dual-core processors that provide the following
configuration options:

1P/2C (One processor/two cores)
•
2P/4C (Two processors/four cores)
