With wet or loose soils the pretension of the coul-
ter discs must not be too high, to make sure that
the discs will not block up and wear unevenly.
An additional washer can be inserted, if required.
This pre-tension will reduce due to wear on the
coulter discs or the discs will no longer have
contact.
In this case the coulter discs must be renewed,
or the pre-tension must be readjusted by remov-
ing the washers.
If the discs stop and block up because
of incorrect pre-tension, too loose soil
or wear, the seed will be placed in
bunches.
When replacing the coulter discs, the pre-
tension of both coulter discs must be adjusted
via the washers.
The coulter discs must be slightly pre-tensioned
at the cutting edge, but should still be free turning
without using force.
Scrapers, coulter discs and press wheels
Attention must also be paid to the function of the
scrapers. If these already show signs of wear
and a wear edge has formed, this edge must
not touch the cutting edge, because then the
automatic readjustment would no longer work.
If necessary insert another washer or replace
the scraper.
Coulter unit
The coulter unit consists of the coulter arm, the
coulter discs and the press wheel.

1. Coulter arm mounting
2. Coulter discs
3. Uniformer
4. Press rollers
The coulter arm is guided by maintenance free
rubber bearings. It connects the coulters and the
press wheel with the main frame and transfers
the coulter pressure.
For precise work and the exact opening of the
seed channel the front angle of the discs is po-
sitioned with slight pretension.
The twin-disc coulter cuts the seedbed and
exposes the seed horizon.
The seed is placed between the discs and gently
pressed down by the attached uniformers.
A scraper keeps the space between the discs
free of dirt. The scraper is self-adjusting.
The readjustment, the effect and wear
of the scrapers must be checked at
regular intervals.
