11.2 Filling
11.2.1 Filling with water
NOTE
When filling, pay attention to the permissible
payload of your crop protection sprayer!
When filling the crop protection sprayer you
must strictly consider the different specific
den-
sities [kg/l] of the individual fluids!
Fluid
Density [kg/l]
Water
1
Carbonyl diamide
1.11
Ammonium nitrate carbonyl
diamide solution
1.28
NP-solution
1.38
Example:
With 4000 l AHL the spraying mix-
ture container is filled with a mass of
4000 l x 1.28 kg/l =
5120 kg
!
WARNING
Danger for persons / animals due to acci-
dental contact with spraying mixture when
filling the spraying mixture tank!
¾
Wear your personal protective outfit when
processing crop protection agents or draining
spraying mixture from the spraying mixture
tank.
The required personal protective outfit de
-
pends on the information of the manufacturer,
the product information, the instructions for
use, the safety data sheet or the operating
instructions for the crop protection agent to
be used.
¾
Before each filling check the crop protection
sprayer for damage, e.g. leaking tanks and
hoses as well as the correct positioning of all
operating elements.
¾
Never leave the crop protection sprayer unat-
tended during filling.
¾
Never exceed the nominal capacity when fill
-
ing the spraying mixture tank.
¾
Never exceed the permissible payload of the
crop protection sprayer when filling the spray
-
ing mixture tank.
¾
Pay attention to the specific weight of the fluid
to be filled in.
¾
When filling keep an eye on the level gauge to
avoid overfilling of the spraying mixture tank.
¾
When filling the spraying mixture container
pay attention to sealed surfaces, so that no
wash runs into the sewer system.
¾
No foam should escape from the spraying
mixture container during filling.
A large cross-section funnel that reaches
down to the bottom of the spraying mixture
tank, most effectively prevents the formation
of foam.
Adding an anti-foaming agent will also prevent
the formation of foam in the spraying mixture
tank.
¾
When filling the spraying mixture container
do not make a direct connection between the
filling hose and the contents in the spraying
mixture tank!
Only this prevents back siphoning or back
pressing of spraying mixture into the drinking
water line.
¾
Fasten the end of the filling hose at least
10 cm above the filling opening in the spray
-
ing mixture tank.
The free outflow created this way offers the
highest level of safety against the back flow of
spraying mixture into the drinking water line.
¾
Fill the spraying mixture container only with
the filling screen in place.
NOTE
The most harmless way of filling is at the
edge of the field from the water tanker (if
possible make use of a natural inclination).
Depending on the crop protection agent
used this filling method is not allowed in
water protection zones! You should in any
case ask the "Water board"!
