5.2 Safeguarding tractor /
machine
WARNING
Danger of crushing, shearing, cutting, cutting off,
being caught, wound up, pulled in and impact
when working on the machine caused by
¾
accidental lowering of lifted, unsecured ma-
chine parts!
¾
accidental starting and unintended rolling of
the tractor/machine combination!
Before starting any procedures on the machine
secure both tractor and crop protection sprayer
against accidental starting and unintended roll-
ing away.
All interventions on the machine, such as e.g. as-
sembly work, adjustments, rectification of faults,
cleaning, maintenance and repair, are prohibited
¾
while the machine is driven.
¾
as long as the tractor engine is running with
PTO-shaft pump / hydraulic system con-
nected.
¾
if the ignition key is still in the tractor and the
tractor engine could be accidentally started
with the PTO-shaft pump / hydraulic system
connected.
¾
if tractor and machine are not secured with their
respective parking brake and wheel chocks
against accidental rolling away.
¾
if moveable parts have not been blocked to
prevent unintended movements.
The front axle of the tractor always must be
loaded with at least 20% of the curb weight
of the tractor.
The tractor must be able to achieve the
braking deceleration specified by the tractor
manufacturer, even with attached or hitched
up machine.
NOTE
The actual values for the total weight, tractor
axle loads, tyre load bearing capacity and mini-
mum ballast shall be calculated for the tractor!
The permissible total weight of the tractor as
specified in the vehicle registration papers must
be greater than the total of

tractor curb weight,
¾
ballasting mass and
¾
total weight of the attached machine or draw-
bar load of the towed machine
