Maintenance
This chapter provides information on maintenance in order to ensure the highest accuracy
and optimum use of the HR-200.
List of periodic checks
This section describes the general check items for the residual chlorine sensor. Periodic
checks followed are necessary for accurate measurement.
Maintenance for converter
Check the following items for the converter.
Cable gland for looseness
LCD display for defect (the LCD can be checked by the user check menu).
Dew on the window (open the case and dry inside).
Terminals for looseness
Note
Tighten the cable glands and the case sealing to be airtight if the converter is installed outdoor.
Incomplete sealing causes corrosion or dew condensation inside.
Check item
Check frequency (recommended)
Description
Check of flow rate of sample
Once a day.
Check the flow rate at the sample inlet of the
measurement cell. If the flow rate is low, correct
measurements cannot be made.
Check of residual chlorine
concentration (cross-check)
Measure the residual chlorine concentration of the
sample with a residual chlorine tester or the like. If
the value is greatly different, perform calibration.
Removal of sensor
contamination
Depending on the contamination
level (once or more per 3 months).
Wipe the cathode surface with soft cloth if the
surface is coated. Calibration is needed after
manual cleaning of the cathode electrode.
Cleaning or replacement of
mesh filter
Depending on the contamination
level.
Flow rate is not maintained if the mesh filter is
clogged. The lower flow rate leads erroneous
reading.
Replacement of cleaning
beads
Perform when the electrode is
replaced (once or more per 3
months).
The worn beads do not clean the electrode
effectively.
Replacement of cathode
electrode
Once a year (depending on the
water quality condition and the
operating situation).
The cathode electrode must be replace periodically.
Cleaning of measurement
cell
Depending on the contamination
level.
The coating on the measurement cell will obstruct
the observation inside.
Replacement of string
wound filter
Depending on the contamination
level.
Flow rate will be decreased when the filter is
clogged. The lower flow rate leads erroneous
reading.
Calibration
At least once per month
(depending on the water quality
condition).
Calibration is needed if the detector is replaced or
measurement cell is cleaned or replaced.
