SmartPAC 2 Initialization Mode

Resolver Motion Mode (Normal Motion – Link Motion)

(INITIALIZATION – POSITION SENSOR)

The default setting for this item is “Normal Motion.”  This item controls whether
SmartPAC 2 adapts to the action of a link-motion press.  If this is a link-motion press, go to
“Using SmartPAC 2 with a Link-Motion Press,” page 268, for instructions.

NOTICE

PACNET REQUIRES NUMERIC TOOL NUMBERS

Use numeric tool numbers if SmartPAC 2 is or will be connected to PACNet computerized
pressroom reporting software.

NOTICE

Before you set up your SmartPAC 2, decide which tool number mode you will use, numeric
or alpha-numeric.  Set up your SmartPAC 2 in that mode, and do not change tool number
modes afterward.

NOTICE

UPGRADING FROM ORIGINAL SMARTPAC

Follow the instructions below regarding tool number mode.  See “When You Upgrade from
an Original SmartPAC” (next section) and “Appendix E – Upgrade from Original SmartPAC,”
page 457 for more information about upgrading from original SmartPAC to SmartPAC 2.

SmartPAC 2 has two tool number modes:

•

ALPHA-NUMERIC:  20-character tool “numbers” containing both letters and
numbers

•

NUMERIC ONLY:  7-digit tool numbers that contain only numbers

Read the descriptions of the two modes below.  Then, set to the tool number mode to your
preference as instructed under “Change Tool Number Mode,” page 207.  After you have
selected a mode and programmed any tools, do not change tool number mode.
