Two wire link or Smart Transmitter faults
If the fault is in the 2-wire link or in the transmitter, the PV value on the Universal Station display
changes to a
BADPV
value for the particular STI point. Perform the procedure in the following table to
isolate the fault to either the link or the transmitter.
Step
Action
1
Check the Transmitter Status Field on the second page of the Detail Status display. If
“Device Not Communicating” or “In Analog Mode” is displayed, proceed to step 2.
Otherwise, determine the status of the transmitter by using Table 77 Alphanumeric
Display for Failover HPMM Swapping Sequence (Detailed Display Mode) and take the
appropriate action.
2
Check the status of the transmitter using the Smart Field Communicator (SFC) as
described in the appropriate Honeywell publication.
3
If the status check of the transmitter indicates that it has no malfunction, the fault may
be in the 2-wire link. Proceed with the following steps.
Disconnect the 2-wire link at the transmitter and at the FTA. Perform a wire continuity
test. If necessary, replace the 2-wire link.
If the status check of the transmitter indicates that it is a malfunction, troubleshoot the
transmitter according to the procedures provided in the appropriate Honeywell
publication.
4
After the fault has been corrected, reload the transmitter data base from the Universal
Station.
5
Remove the control loop from the manual mode.
4.5 FTA Redundancy Indicators
Introduction
The switching indicator, DS1, on the High Level Analog Input FTA and the Analog Output FTA indicate
different IOP control conditions. Output control of the Analog Output FTA is switched on the FTA
between IOP A and IOP B. The inputs to the High Level Analog Input IOPs from the FTA are connected
in parallel.
AO FTA redundancy indicator
If the indicator,
DS1
, on the Analog Output FTA is illuminated, IOP A is controlling the FTA’s output
terminals. When IOP A is controlling the FTA’s output terminals, IOP B, the switching module, M1, or
the cable between IOP B and the FTA can be replaced.
When the indicator on the Analog Output FTA is extinguished, IOP B is controlling the FTA’s output
terminals, and IOP A or the cable between IOP A and the FTA can be replaced. The indicator may
briefly illuminate during self-test. This is a normal condition.
HLAI FTA redundancy indicator
If the indicator,
DS1
, on the High Level Analog Input FTA is illuminated, IOP A is the primary IOP or
available to become the primary IOP. When the indicator on the FTA is not illuminated, IOP A is not
available to be the primary IOP.
4.6 Redundant Analog Output IOP Failure Diagnosis
Introduction
The procedure that follows is recommended when encountering a problem with redundant Analog
Output IOPs. It is not intended to be a replacement for the experience acquired in the use of redundant
