In this case, the starter motor’s
speed sounds normal, or even faster
than normal, when you turn the
ignition switch to START (III), but
the engine does not run.
Your car has the Immobilizer
System. You should use a
properly-coded ignition key to
start the engine (see page
). A
key that is not properly coded will
cause the immobilizer system
indicator in the dash panel to blink
rapidly.
Are you using the proper starting
procedure? Refer to
on page on petrol
models and page on diesel
models.
After you parked the vehicle for
an extended period or when the
outside temperature becomes very
high, water stays in the fuel
system and the engine will not
start. In this case, you should drain
the water from the fuel filter (see
on page ).
Do you have fuel? Turn the
ignition switch to ON (II) for a
minute and watch the fuel gauge.
The low fuel indicator may not be
working, so you were not
reminded to fill the tank.
After you have stored your vehicle
for an extended period, air may
have entered the fuel system (see
on
page ).
If your vehicle runs out of fuel,
priming the fuel system is
required to restart the engine (see
page
).
On cars with a fuel cutoff system,
the fuel cutoff switch may be
activated. If the switch is activated,
it must be reset before starting the
engine (see page
).
There may be an electrical
problem, such as no power to the
fuel pump. Check all the fuses
(see page
).
If you find nothing wrong, you will
need a qualified technician to find
the problem. See
