7.1 Configuring the Laptop IP Settings
To configure the laptop IP settings (Windows 7):
1.
Connect a network cable from the laptop computer to the NIC 2 Ethernet service port
on the back of the server.
Note
If your hardware does not support Gigabit Ethernet, a crossover cable is
required to connect directly to the service port (NIC 2).
Note
As an alternative, you can interact directly with the server by connecting it to a
monitor, keyboard, and mouse. Connect the monitor to the onboard VGA port.
If you do not use a laptop, skip steps 2-4.

Configure the IP address of the laptop computer.

From the laptop desktop, right-click
Network
and select
Properties
. The Network
and Sharing Center window appears.

Click the ‘Local Area Connection’ link. The Local Area Connection Status window
appears.

Click
Properties
. The Local Area Connection Properties window appears.
6.
In the ‘This connection uses the following items list’, select
Internet Protocol
(TCP/Ipv4)
.

Click
Properties
. The Internet Protocol (TCP/Ipv4) window appears.
8.
Select the ‘Use the following IP address’ option. In the IP address field, enter
‘192.168.0.2’
Note
The default IP address on the NIC 2 Ethernet service port is 192.168.0.1. For the
initial installation, you can connect to the server by entering ‘192.168.0.2’ and
the same subnet.
9.
In the subnet mask field, enter ‘255.255.255.0’.
10.
Click
OK
(twice), then click
Close
.
