Design features
Columns made of specially rolled sectional steel, lif-
ting carriages with lifting and safety nuts, contactor-
type control, spring-suspended door stops, asym-
metric telescopic swing arms, 230 V socket, belt drive
motors, electronic synchronising unit, CE type test.
5. Product description
The HOFMANN duolift MTE 3000 is a two-post lift
comprising 2 base plates, a primary column and a
secondary column. In both columns there is a lifting
spindle and a carriage which supports the swing
arms.
Each of the columns houses a belt drive motor to
drive the lifting spindles. Synchronism of the lifting
carriages (swing arms) is ensured by means of an
electronic synchronising unit.
Asynchronous travel of the lifting carriages (e.g. cau-
sed by uneven load distribution, lack of lubrication or
similar) can be compensated for by the synchronising
unit via a potentiometer within a control path of ap-
prox. 10 mm.
In this case the leading carriage is stopped until the
slower carriage is at the same level again. Such con-
trol operations may be repeated several times over
the whole travel of the lift.
The lifting carriages are carried on special lifting nuts
which move up and down the spindle according to its
direction of rotation. The carriage runs on maintenan-
ce-free roller bearings.
The lift is controlled by means of the operating switch
on the control box. It moves in the direction of the
arrows and stops when the switch is released. The lift
also switches off at the limits of its travel via a cable
control.
The lift incorporates a number of active and passive
safety features, for example:

if the lifting nut fails through wear, the load will be
taken on a safety nut. This allows the lift to be lo-
wered but activates a mechanical lock which pre-
vents it from being raised again.

The swing arms are locked at approx. 250 mm
above the ground to prevent the vehicle from
slipping down once lifted.

The motor has a thermal sensor to prevent it
from overheating. This switches off the lift until it
has cooled down.
The HOFMANN duolift lift is provided with asym-
metrical arms of unequal length. The short, double
telescoped arms are provided at the front and the
long, single telescoped arms are provided at the back
seen in the drive-on direction.
The vehicle should be positioned with the front door
hinges between the columns to allow the doors to
open easily.
The part of the vehicle housing the engine should, if
possible, be assigned to the short arms (take care to
keep the centre of gravity between the columns!)
