Communications Method

Standard Event Status Register

Standard Event Status Register (SESR)

The Standard Event Status Register (SESR) is an 8-bit register.

The contents of the Standard Event Status Register (SESR) are cleared in the following cases.

• When the

*CLS

command is executed

•

When an event register query is executed (

*ESR?

)

• When the instrument is turned on again

Bit 7

PON

Power-On Flag

This flag is set to “1” when the instrument is turned on or upon recovery

from an outage.

Bit 6

(URQ)

This bit is not used for the instrument.

(User Request)

Bit 5

CME

Command Error (The command to the message terminator is ignored.) This

bit is set to “1” when a received command contains a syntax or semantic

error.

•When a program header error is detected

•

Incorrect number of data parameters

•

Invalid parameter format

•

When a command not supported by the instrument is received

Bit 4

EXE

Execution Error

This bit is set to “1” when a received command cannot be executed for

some reason.

•

The specified data value is outside of the set range.

•

When the specified data cannot be set

•

Execution is prevented by another operation being performed.

Bit 3

DDE

Device-Dependent Error

This bit is set to “1” when a device-dependent error occurs.

For details about the error, see “Before requesting repair” (p. 195).

Bit 2

QYE

Query Error (The output queue is cleared.)

This bit is set to “1” when an error is detected during an output queue

related process.

•

When the data overflows the output queue.

•When the data in the output queue is lost

Bit 1

(RQC)

This bit is not used for the instrument.

OPC

Operation Complete

This bit is set to “1” when the operation is completed.
