Board application
The board enables the application design of a speed controlled closed-loop
motor control drive profile synchronized over a Real-time Ethernet based
industrial commination protocol. It serves as example for an FOC based
motor control system design with network connectivity using the netX 90
multiprotocol SoC with built-in motor control features.
The motor supply voltage is at the same the power supply for the NXHX 90-
MC board. The integrated DC/DC converter of the 3-Phase Gate Driver IC,
with a wide voltage input range from 12V to 43V (36V +20%), generates the
3.3V single supply for the netX 90. For operating the NXHX 90-MC board,
the nominal input voltage range is +12V to 36V DC for either 12V, 24V or
36V motor supply voltages with 24V the most popular for industrial
applications.
Figure 2: NXHX 90-MC board with NXHX-DH adapter
In order to facilitate the interconnection of industrial motors with integrated
quadrature encoders, Hilscher offers an NXHX-DH adapter accessory card
for the NXHX 90-MC board. It contains push-in connectors for up to two
quadrature encoders and three digital hall sensors. The NXHX-DH board
converts RS-422 (5V differential) and TTL (5V single-ended) quadrature
encoder signals to 3.3V inputs for the NXHX 90-MC board and provides a
5V supply for the encoders. Additionally, it contains analog filters for the
digital hall inputs.
