Connecting the Console Cable
The SG-6000-X7180 device provides an RS-232C asynchronous serial console (CON) port, the
expansion modules of SG-6000-X10800/X9180/X8180 provides an RS-232C asynchronous
serial console (CON) port, through which you can configure the appliance. The console cable is
an 8-core shielded cable, which has an RJ-45 connector that can be connected to the Console port
of the appliance and a DB-9 (female) connector that can be connected to the serial port of a con-
sole terminal.
To connect the Console cable, take the following steps:
1. Select a console terminal. You may choose an ordinary PC or a standard ASCII terminal with
an RS-232C serial port.
2. Connect the console cable. Connect the RJ-45 end of the cable to the Console port of the
appliance, and then connect the DB-9 connector of the cable to the console terminal.
The Auxiliary (AUX) port is used to configure the slave SCM. Connecting the AUX port is similar
to connecting the Console port.
Connecting the Ethernet/Optical Cable
IOM supports SFP ports, XFP ports, SFP+ ports, QSFP+ ports and QSFP28 ports. SFP port can
accommodate SFP optical module or copper SFP transceiver; when you use optical SFP module,
you can use single-mode or multi-mode optical cable to connect. The XFP port, SFP+ port,
QSFP+ port and QSPF28 port is also compatible with single-mode or multi-mode cable.
All SFP, XFP and SFP+ optical modules use LC-type optical connector, and you should connect
the optical modules using optical fiber ended with LC-type connector. All QSFP+ and QSFP28
optical modules use MPO-type or LC-type optical connector, and you should connect the optical
modules using optical fiber ended with MPO-type or LC-type connector. All optical transceivers
are hot-swappable.
Connecting the Ethernet Copper Cable
Follow the guidelines below when connecting cables to the ports:
