4.1 Counterweight
Tools required: 1/2" socket Ratchet
Removal
1. Set the brakes.
2. Raise the bed to the highest position.
SHOCK HAZARD:
Unplug the unit from its power source. Failure to do so can result in
personal injury or equipment damage.
3. Unplug the bed from its power source.
4. Remove the head end covers. Refer to “Cover—Head End” in the
TotalCare® Bed System Service Manual (man112) .
5. Install the Hi-Lo cylinder braces. Refer to “Hi-Lo Cylinder Brace—
SA1695” in the TotalCare® Bed System Service Manual (man112) .
6. Remove the three nuts (A) securing the counterweight (C) to the bed (D)
(see figure 4-1 on page 4-7).
WARNING:
The counterweight weighs in excess of 75 lb (34 kg). Use two people
when removing or installing the counterweight. Failure to do so can
result in personal injury.
7. Remove the counterweight (C).
