Introduction
Overview
The CarePorter™ Cart is a freestanding mobile device that couples to a patient
bed or stretcher to assist with transport of patients on round-trip or one-way
trips within the facility environment. The CarePorter™ Cart can be equipped
with oxygen and/or air cylinders, ventilators, infusion pumps, and various
other devices. During transport, devices necessary to move a patient that is too
ill to otherwise be transported safely are powered from the CarePorter™ Cart’s
Transport Power Module’s (TPM) battery. When the CarePorter™ Cart is
stationary at the transport destination, it should be connected to wall source
electrical receptacles and medical gas outlets.
The CarePorter™ Cart also assists the caregiver in managing, organizing, and
providing mobility to bedside equipment.
Operating Precautions
Before operating the CarePorter™ Cart, ensure you have read and understand
in detail the contents of the CarePorter™ Cart User Manual (usr010) and this
manual. It is important that you read and strictly adhere to the safety
information contained in these manuals.
This product should be checked periodically for proper operation. Preventive
maintenance (PM) should be performed as outlined in chapter 6 (see
“Preventive Maintenance” on page 6-6). An inoperative product should be
removed from service. Missing, broken, worn, distorted, or contaminated parts
should be replaced immediately.
