New DRM85-C
FlashMic family expands
with new cardioid version
New V4 Firmware
FlashMic gains powerful
new features
FLASHMIC NEWS UPDATE 2007
Combining a high-quality Sennheiser capsule
with a broadcast-quality Flash recorder, the
ground-breaking HHB FlashMic has quickly
become established as the portable
recording device of choice for international
broadcasters. Now HHB has expanded the
FlashMic range with the introduction of a
new cardioid version – the FlashMic
DRM85-C – specifically for more directional
recording in environments in which there are
high ambient sound levels, such as press
scrums and conflict zones.
Both the new DRM85-C and the original,
omnidirectional FlashMic DRM85 share the
same comprehensive feature set, which
includes 1GB Flash memory for over 18
hours recording, USB audio data transfer, a
high quality preamplifier with full manual or
automatic gain control (AGC), an illuminated
LCD display and 9 user templates which can
be configured externally using the FlashMic
Manager software supplied (Mac/PC).
Rugged build quality, exceptional sound
quality, ease of use, fast file transfer and
instant, one-button recording further secure
the FlashMic’s position as the ultimate
portable recording device.
All FlashMics now ship with new FlashMic V4
firmware, which adds the following facilities
to an already comprehensive feature set:
• A new flash file system ensuring
recordings are retained even if the
batteries are removed while in Record
• The facility to introduce cue points during
playback, enabling the user to begin
compiling the finished piece as soon as
the interview is over
• The facility to skip between tracks and
markers in playback
• Enhanced meter decay characteristics
• The facility to meter level in both Idle and
Play modes (particularly helpful when
preparing for an interview).
The FlashMic Manager software is also
upgraded to include the facility to transfer
MPEG encoded files with either .wav or
.mp2 extensions.
