7.2.3
Replacing the battery for the motion alarm
NOTE:
This section only applies to PC4200 models, which have a built-in agitator.
Regularly test whether the backup battery is functioning, and replace it if the test fails or if the battery has
been in use for one year. Replace the battery for the motion alarm with a rechargeable 9 V Nickel-Metal
Hydride (NiMH) battery or its equivalent.
To test the backup battery
1
For i.Series models, do the following:
a
Verify that the backup power for the i.Center is enabled and that the batteries have sufficient power.
For more information, see
Section 3.6.1, “Enabling backup power for the i.Center monitoring
system” and Section 7.2.1, “Checking and replacing batteries for the i.Center monitoring system.”
b
Identify the delay period for the motion alarm, which is the Agitator 1 Setpoint. For instructions,
see
Section 4.2, “Viewing current settings.”
2
For Horizon Series models, do the following:
a
Disable the battery for the power failure alarm by disconnecting the leads. For more information,
see
Section 3.6.2, “Enabling backup power for the power failure alarm system.”
b
Identify the delay period for the motion alarm, which is the setting on the rear of the incubator. For
more information, see Section 5.2.2, “Delaying the motion alarm.”
3
With the incubator turned on and agitating, disconnect AC power from the incubator.
4
After the delay period has elapsed, the motion alarm should activate. If it does not activate, or the
battery has been in use for one year, replace the battery.
To replace the backup battery
1
Turn off the incubator and disconnect it from AC power.
2
On the top of the incubator, remove the access panel to access the battery.
3
Remove the battery and replace it with a fresh battery.
4
Install the access panel.
